Galatasaray's departure leaves Álvaro Morata with harsh words: "I had to cut down on my income"

Álvaro Morata, a Spanish international footballer with 86 appearances and 37 goals to his name, has joined Como 1907 on loan with an obligation to buy. The move comes after a controversial departure from Galatasaray SK, where he spent the latter part of 2025.

Morata's decision to leave Galatasaray was prompted by unfulfilled commitments and a need to renounce a part of his salary. This led to a dispute with the club, which initially refused to release him from his loan, set to run until January 2026 with an obligation to buy.

Despite pressure from Morata, who skipped training sessions to push for a transfer to Como, Galatasaray initially demanded compensation of around €10 million to terminate the loan contract early. However, an agreement was reached near €5 million, allowing Morata to move to Como and join their project led by Cesc Fabregas.

Morata has been vocal about his dissatisfaction with Galatasaray's management, publicly criticizing them for not honoring their promises. This strained relationship likely contributed to his determination to exit the club quickly.

In Turkey, Morata won the Super League and the Cup during his time at Galatasaray. Despite his negative experience, he expressed gratitude towards the club and the city of Istanbul for the support he received.

Morata's impressive career includes two Champions League titles, a UEFA Super Cup, a FIFA Club World Cup, two Serie A titles, two La Liga titles, and a Turkish Super League title with his clubs. He has also won the Italian Cup, the FA Cup, the Europa League, and several national Super Cups.

Looking forward, Morata has promised to give 100% in every training session and every game for Como 1907. He expressed happiness about joining Cesc Fàbregas' team in Serie A and is eager to contribute to their success.

The controversy surrounding Morata's departure from Galatasaray reflects contractual and personal conflicts that led to an early exit from the club despite the original loan timeline. Despite this, Morata remains a respected figure in the world of football, with a promising future ahead at Como 1907.
