G Data Cyberdefense shifts to partner-first strategy under new VP Nikolas Schran

G Data Cyberdefense has appointed Nikolas Schran as its new Vice President of Sales & Marketing. He will take up the role in October 2025, bringing a fresh strategy focused on partnerships. The company is also preparing to launch a revamped partner programme in the coming months.

Schran's return marks a shift in direction for the cybersecurity firm. His plan involves phasing out direct sales and instead prioritising a channel-first approach. This means working closely with partners rather than competing with them.

A new partner programme will roll out soon, offering tiered levels based on each partner's strengths. The aim is not to recruit more partners but to boost revenue per partner by jointly acquiring new customers. G Data is also expanding its internal team to better support these partnerships, helping with campaigns and streamlining processes.

In June, the company will introduce a new XDR (extended detection and response) product. Alongside this, G Data and its partners will operate as a unified force to meet rising demand for digital sovereignty. The firm's core promise remains unchanged: all customer data stays in Germany, with processing handled exclusively within the country.

Schran has highlighted the growing market for local cybersecurity news. He believes the timing is ideal for G Data to strengthen its position by focusing on collaboration with partners.

The changes will see G Data move away from direct sales, relying instead on a network of partners to drive growth. With a new leadership structure, expanded support, and upcoming product launches, the company is positioning itself to capitalise on increasing demand for secure, locally managed cybersecurity news solutions.
