Futuristic Love Story Starring Penguin and Barbie Characters Evokes Suzume Feel in Debut Trailer

Both Robbie and Farrell enjoyed their most successful careers in recent times. Robbie made headlines as both the lead and producer of the monumental box office sensation Barbie, while Farrell clinched an Oscar nomination for his exceptional performance in The Banshees of Inisherin and is now showcasing his talent in DC's acclaimed series The Penguin.
Joining them in this new adventure are Kevin Kline, Lily Rabe, Jodie Turner-Smith, Phoebe Waller-Bridge, and Billy Magnussen.
master of The Acolyte, Kogonada, took inspiration not exclusively from Makoto Shinkai's Suzume (despite the mystical doors) but from Hayao Miyazaki's films at Studio Ghibli. "That kind of magical luminescence weaves you into our everyday struggles and the challenges of being human, managing to accomplish both feats simultaneously," he confided to Vanity Fair.
Indeed, he enlisted the help of Japanese composer Joe Hisaishi, renowned for his contributions to Miyazaki's films, to compose the film's score. "It was crucial to infuse the extraordinary alongside the familiar," added Kogonada.
