Future Outlook: "Impact of Atiku's Potential Presidency on the Cost of Cassava Flakes, Rice, and Tomatoes" - Ibe

In the bustling world of Nigerian politics, the media has been abuzz with talk about former PDP presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar, and his ambitions for the 2027 election. Some veterans like Hakeem Baba-Ahmed, previously a spokesperson for the Northern Elders Forum, and Yusuf Datti Baba-Ahmed, the Labour Party's VP candidate in the 2023 elections, have urged Atiku to step aside, but his media advisor, Paul Ibe, isn't having any of it.

Speaking to Vanguard, Ibe defiantly reaffirmed Atiku's right to pursue his presidential dreams. He said, "Critics can ponder all they want, but they need to put their money where their mouth is. They should backing a candidate they love, rally support, and make their case. That's what democracy's about, even if it gets a bit chaotic."

Ibe wasn't just defending Atiku; he was expressing concern. He questioned the rationale behind trying to snuff out someone's ambitions, comparing it to asking someone not to accept an advisory role. He wondered, "What if Atiku had told Baba-Ahmed not to take up his role with Tinubu? I bet he'd be miffed."

Ibe made it clear that no one person has the authority to deny another the opportunity to chase their aspirations. He reiterated, "It's all fine to have an opinion, but everyone has the right to pursue what they believe in."

By shifting the focus, Ibe pointed out that the debate over Atiku's presidential bid isn't the crux of Nigeria's problems. He said, "Atiku's decision to run or not isn't the root cause of our troubles. The real issue is the inept leadership currently in charge. The goal for united forces is to form a powerful coalition to reclaim and rebuild our nation. That should be the focus."

Ibe also reminded everyone that political rivalries shouldn't overshadow the pressing economic issues at hand. He asked, "How does Atiku's potential run affect the cost of staples like garri, rice, tomatoes, or onions? It doesn't."

Some politicians like Clement Aziegbemi are urging Atiku to withdraw for reasons of party unity and justice[1][3]. But Ibe's stance is clear: Atiku is running, and he's not afraid to voice his intentions.
