Join us at the Festival of Local Democracy, where the future leaders of Bergisch Gladbach's politics gather. We aim to engage with citizens on what they envision for the town's future. On Friday, we invite you to participate in an engaging discussion about local issues, fostered by skilled moderators.
The main focus of this citizen discussion is the audience's viewpoint. Two esteemed journalists, Rainer Kurlemann and Carina Frey, will present a topic shaping Bergisch Gladbach and ask thought-provoking questions.
With a setup resembling the British House of Commons, participants will take up sides representing 'for' or 'against' on the market square. Although this setup may seem contentious initially, it sparks constructive conversations as participants express their views and listen to others.
As Kurlemann admits, the initial hesitation dissolves, leading to a replacement of rigid opinions with multiple perspectives and shared commonalities. According to Frey, the debate serves not just as a platform for voicing opinions but also as a tool to bridge gaps and promote understanding for diverse viewpoints.
Join the journey as we explore and redefine perspectives on GL 2030 - Moving the City Forward!

Rather than the confines of closed rooms, Carina Frey and Rainer Kurlemann have previously conducted these citizen discussions. This time, they will bring their engaging "House of Commons Debate" format to the Europa Festival 2024 in Bergisch Gladbach, and strive to address local matters during the Festival of Local Democracy.
All citizens are welcome to join the discussion, or simply listen and observe—no registration required! However, reserving a seat in advance is an option to ensure a spot.
