Fürth's massive disaster drill to test emergency response this weekend

Fürth will hold a major disaster drill this Saturday. The exercise involves nearly 500 emergency workers and will test responses across the city. Residents can expect increased activity, including sirens and moving vehicles, as crews simulate real-life crises.

The drill runs from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m., with scenarios unfolding at almost 20 locations. Firefighters, police, and relief teams will take part in coordinated operations. Emergency vehicles will move swiftly through streets, prioritised by traffic controls.

The Fürth Indoor Pool will close partially from 7:45 a.m. to 10 a.m. due to nearby activity at Scherbsgraben. Heavier traffic is likely around fire stations as crews deploy. Authorities have confirmed no other large-scale exercises are planned in the area.

The operation aims to sharpen coordination between services during emergencies. Residents should stay alert but not alarmed by the increased presence of sirens and vehicles. Normal city activities will resume once the drill concludes at 2 p.m.
