Furious Pouncing Steed Consistently Forges His Path

Is there a home field advantage in horse racing? Absolutely, you betcha! Just like in other sports, horses can thrive in familiar surroundings. Many trainers will tell you that there's no place like home for their equine athletes.

Racing track is like a second home to these thundering steeds, where they train regularly and rest in their own comfy stalls. That familiarity helps them relax and perform optimally. Some horses truly embrace the nomadic lifestyle, adapting to different tracks and conditions as if they were born for it.

Take, for instance, the extraordinary Raging Torrent. This Maximus Mischief offspring has been on a global tour since May 2024, racking up wins at five different tracks on both U.S. coasts, Kentucky, and Dubai! Doug O'Neill, his trainer turned traveling agent, marvels at his ability to travel and maintain a hearty appetite, which contributes to his exceptional performance.

The Raging Torrent World Tour kicked off at Churchill Downs with an impressive front-running victory, followed by a gate-to-wire win in the Maxfield Stakes. Later, he bagged his first graded stakes win in the Pat O'Brien at Del Mar. A setback in the Breeders' Cup Sprint was only temporary; he bounced back with a triumph in the Malibu Stakes at Santa Anita.

Confident after his successful 2024 season, Team O'Neill packed their bags for a shot at the Godolphin Mile in Dubai. Raging Torrent continued his winning streak, outshining competitors from all over the world. Back in the U.S., he made headlines with an impressive upset win in the Grade 1 Metropolitan Handicap at Saratoga in 2025.

Facing two of the top older male runners in the United States in Fierceness and White Abarrio, Raging Torrent was the dark horse of the race. Breaking swiftly, he led the pack from start to finish and left his rivals in the dust. His masterful ride under jockey Frankie Dettori earned him a dominating victory of two and a half lengths.

Reflecting on the Met Mile victory, O'Neill said, "It was an incredible performance, and we couldn't be more proud. Our owners have given us the freedom to campaign Raging Torrent at different tracks, which we're extremely thankful for. Our amazing staff, led by Leandro Mora, has played a significant role in our success story."

In fourteen starts, Raging Torrent has won seven times, with one second and two third-place finishes. With earnings totaling $1,797,400, he's currently back in California preparing for his next race. The horse racing world eagerly awaits his next move!

At the famed Meydan Race Course, Raging Torrent, under trainer Doug O'Neill, continued his stellar racing career, adding a victory in the Godolphin Mile to his impressive global tally. Even amidst the diverse tracks and conditions he encounters, such as Del Mar, Churchill Downs, and Saratoga, Raging Torrent, like a seasoned athlete, thrives exceptionally, demonstrating his versatility in the realm of horse-racing sports.
