Funeral attendee pulls out gun, disrupts service for artist Ivan Krasko in Komarovo

In St. Petersburg on August 13, the funeral of 94-year-old actor Ivan Krasko took place at the Komarovo cemetery. The service was marked by an unexpected incident when a participant in the ceremony fired a single pistol shot into the air, causing shock among the attendees.

Despite being a ritual typically carried out for former military personnel, which Krasko was, the act usually requires three shots fired at the grave. However, in this case, the shot was fired from behind the mourners, creating a sense of alarm.

It has been clarified that this ritual is linked to honouring former military individuals, consistent with Krasko's naval background and status as a lieutenant commander, as evidenced by his burial attire.

However, the identity of the shooter remains undisclosed, and it is unclear whether they will face criminal charges for hooliganism. The authorities have concluded that the shot was a ritualistic act rather than a criminal offense, and no mention of an ongoing investigation or arrests has been reported.

Ivan Krasko, who passed away on August 9, was buried next to his son Andrei Krasko's grave. Andrei, who outlived his father by 19 years, was not present at the funeral.

Other notable absences included Krasko's former spouse, Natalia, who is 60 years his junior, and comedian Andrei Urgant.

Krasko's cause of death was complications from a stroke and gastrointestinal cancer.

In other news, business magnate Joseph Prigozhin criticised the work of contemporary artists, while singer Timati's wife, Alena Vodonaeva, joined the jury of "The Voice. Children" alongside Presnyakov.

The unexpected pistol shot fired during Ivan Krasko's funeral, while a ritualistic act, sparked questions about potential criminal charges for hooliganism due to its unconventional timing and location among the mourners. The incident, despite a link to honoring Krasko's former military status, adds an unexpected layer of general-news and crime-and-justice to the otherwise solemn occasion of the 94-year-old actor's burial.
