Get ready, Leipzig! On Sunday, June 15th, prepare to unite and support a heartfelt cause. The traditional "Kick Cancer" tournament will reprise its annual appearance, taking place once more in Leipzig-Stötteritz. The "Parents' Aid for Children with Cancer" association continues its mission to gather donations for families affected by this devastating illness, with the support of soccer legends.

Mark Your Calendars: The Match Begins at 1:10 PM

Join us at the Südost-Stadion in Leipzig-Stätteritz, where 24 teams will battle it out on the field, all for the greater good of children afflicted with cancer. Last year, both the tournament and the live stream hosted by SPORT IN THE EAST collectively raised around 50,000 euros. These funds have helped provide essential "psychosocial support for children with cancer and their families" from diagnosis to aftercare.

Soccer for Social Impact: The Star-Studded Lineup

Among the prominent soccer stars taking part in the tournament are Marco Rose, former RB Leipzig coach, and a host of former Bundesliga players, including Jürgen Rische, Peer Kluge, René Adler, Perry Bräutigam, Tim Sebastian, Ronald Werner, and Ingo Hertzsch.

Marco Rose, René Adler, Toni Wachsmuth, David Bergner, and Torsten Kracht have recorded a video message for the benefit tournament, expressing their support for the cause and reinforcing their message that it's not just about playing soccer, but standing up for this essential topic and raising donations.

Challenge Ahead: Men's Lounge Defending Their Title

Last year's tournament was an exhilarating one, as the Men's Lounge N39 team, a fan club of the women's Bundesliga team of RB Leipzig, emerged victorious in a tense penalty shootout. This year, the Men’s Lounge faces a challenge to defend their title against 23 formidable teams.

A Friendly Rivalry: The Leipzig Derby in Group C

Group C promises a Leipzig derby between Chemie Leipzig and Lok Leipzig, a friendly and peaceful encounter, as tournament organizer Markus Wulftange promises. He himself will be playing for the SPORT-IM-OSTEN team, which has fortified their ranks with prominent reinforcements, including former Bayern Munich co-trainer and national coach Hansi Flick, and Erzgebirge Aue legend Khvicha Shubitidze, among others.

Knockout Round Kicks Off at 5 PM

The top two teams from each group will participate in the knockout round, starting at 5 PM. The tournament is expected to determine a winner around 6 PM.
