Fundraising efforts for Gaza continue to encounter resistance to public discussion: Inside Together for Palestine's Charity Concert Earning Millions
On the 17th of September, Wembley Arena will host the "Together for Palestine" concert, a highly anticipated event with a 12,500-capacity audience. This benefit concert, organised by Brian Eno and others, aims to show solidarity with the people in Gaza and raise funds for Choose Love, a British charity.
The lineup for the concert is impressive, featuring an array of talented musicians such as James Blake, Damon Albarn, Sampha, Paloma Faith, Jamie XX, Rachel Chinouriri, and Mabel. Guest speakers at the event include Benedict Cumberbatch, Jameela Jamil, Louis Theroux, Ramy Youssef, and Riz Ahmed.
Mabel, known for her hit song "Don't Call Me Up" with over a billion Spotify streams, agreed to participate in the concert. She met one of the organisers, Benji B, and, moved by the global issues, decided to join the cause, feeling that they were insignificant in comparison to her personal life and career.
Khaled Ziada, the founder of marsm_uk and one of the key organisers, is responsible for coordination and promotion of the event. His role includes working alongside artists like Brian Eno to ensure the success of the concert.
The concert has already sold out its venue, indicating the strong support for the cause. Funds raised from the event will be channelled to frontline Palestinian aid organizations through Choose Love.
In recent times, several acts have shown their support for Palestine. Bob Vylan, a punk act, delivered a chant at Glastonbury festival, calling for "death, death to the IDF". Fontaines D.C. also projected "Israel is committing genocide" on screens at their London show.
However, not all support has been without controversy. The Last Dinner Party pulled out of Portsmouth's Victorious Festival due to a band's support for Palestine.
The "Together for Palestine" concert is more than just a musical event. It's a platform for voices to be heard, for solidarity to be shown, and for funds to be raised for those in need. Join us on the 17th of September at Wembley Arena to be a part of this significant event.
