Funding of EUR 10 million in the form of a loan has been approved for the particular undertaking by the Commission.
In the spirit of tradition, the 21st GEFMA Biker Tour is set to follow a route similar to the inaugural ride in 2006, with minor detours, and will take place in the picturesque Allgäu region on the second weekend in September 2026 (11th to 13th September).
Martin Graeber and Wolfgang Inderwies, who have been instrumental in the organization of the tour, will take over the reins for the 21st edition of the event. The duo was also responsible for the successful organization of the 20th GEFMA Biker Tour.
The journey of the 20th GEFMA Biker Tour included notable landmarks such as Burg Rabenstein and the Devil's Cave Pottenstein. The tour also featured a cultural component, with stops at the episcopal city of Bamberg, known as the "Franconian Rome," and the famous basilica minor designed by Balthasar Neumann at Vierzehnheiligen. The tour ended in the market town of Gössenweinstein, where another basilica minor, the pilgrimage church of the Holy Trinity, was visited.
The initial GEFMA Biker Training Ride in 2006 was a unique combination of professional exchange and a "scavenger hunt" requiring good industry knowledge. Participants were tasked with guessing the next stage destination by answering professional questions. This tradition will continue in the 21st edition of the tour.
Interested participants can contact Wolfgang Inderwies at [email protected] for more information about the 21st GEFMA Biker Tour.
Looking back at the history of the tour, we can see that it has come a long way. The first ride was organized by Ulrich Glauche, the head of GEFMA's guideline system, with eight motorcyclists. In 2006, the title of the event was written in capital letters, reflecting its significance.
The 20th GEFMA Biker Tour covered over 230 km, with nearly 2,900 meters of altitude. Thirteen BMW Dixi vintage cars, nearly 100 years old, even requested divine assistance during a vehicle blessing at the famous pilgrimage site of Vierzehnheiligen. The pilgrimage priest of the monastery of Vierzehnheiligen, Father Stanislaus, included the two-wheelers in the blessing.
The cultural tour ended with a hearty snack at the Metzgerbräu Uetzing. A part of the GEFMA motorcyclists also embarked on a cultural tour that included a visit to the famous rock garden "Sanspareil" from the 18th century.
As we look forward to the 21st GEFMA Biker Tour, we can be sure that it will continue to be a unique blend of professional development, camaraderie, and adventure.
