Fully Funded Aviation Scholarship Opens Doors for NYC Residents at JFK

A new scholarship program is offering New York City residents a chance to earn a fully funded Master of Science in Aviation Management. The initiative, a partnership between York College (CUNY) and the JFK Redevelopment Program, aims to train future leaders for the $19 billion transformation of JFK International Airport. Successful applicants will receive financial support, mentorship, and direct industry experience. The JFK Redevelopment Opportunity Scholarship covers all tuition costs for the degree at York College. To qualify, candidates must hold a bachelor's degree from an accredited institution and maintain a minimum GPA of 3.0. Residency in specific Queens or Nassau County ZIP codes is also required.

Beyond funding, the program provides exclusive access to paid internships and fellowships with the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey. Scholars will work alongside JFK terminal operators on major redevelopment projects, gaining hands-on experience in strategy, logistics, and leadership. Networking plays a key role, with mentorship from industry veterans overseeing the airport's modernisation. The curriculum focuses on managing complex airport ecosystems, preparing students for high-demand roles in aviation. Applications close on June 1, 2026, with the program set to begin shortly after. Interested residents can check their ZIP code eligibility and start the application process via the York College Scholarship Center website.

The scholarship removes financial barriers for qualified residents while offering direct pathways into the aviation sector. Graduates will enter the workforce with specialised skills and industry connections, ready to contribute to JFK's ongoing redevelopment. The program's first cohort will start in June 2026.
