Fubara Holds Discussion with Wike on Mending Relations

In an attempt to smooth over their political differences, the suspended Governor of Rivers State, Siminalayi Fubara, convened with the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, at the Minister's Abuja residence on Tuesday.

Our sources at Daily Post report that the meeting, which has set tongues wagging, was also attended by Governor Dapo Abiodun of Ogun State, Ebonyi State Governor Francis Nwifuru, and former Ogun State Governor Olusegun Osoba.

Upon his arrival, Fubara reportedly made his way straight to Wike's living room, a space he frequently visits, for a private discussion. The aim? To address the simmering tension between the two leaders that escalated after Fubara took office in 2023.

One of our sources, speaking under the condition of anonymity, verified that the meeting took place but declined to comment on whether it could signal an end to the state of emergency in Rivers State.

"The meeting happened, and that's the truth." the source said, before adding, "I don't want to speculate further about the state of emergency."

This meeting comes on the heels of President Bola Tinubu's declaration of a state of emergency in Rivers State amidst growing unrest, especially after threats by Niger Delta militants to target oil installations in the state. Tinubu also suspended Fubara, his deputy, and all members of the state Assembly for six months, appointing a Sole Administrator to manage the state's affairs during the emergency period.
