Behind the front-runners, the Mercedes and Ferrari drivers followed in a tight pack. George Russell (Mercedes) secured the fourth fastest time, with Lewis Hamilton (Ferrari) close behind in fifth. Kimi Antonelli (Mercedes) and Charles Leclerc (Ferrari) completed the top seven.

Pierre Gasly delivered an impressive eighth-place finish in his Alpine, just ahead of his countryman Isack Hadjar (Racing Bulls), who has had a strong start to his Formula 1 career.
