From the holy site of Gaza, Father Romanelli pleads for tranquility and harmony
In the heart of Gaza City, the parish of the Holy Family stands as a beacon of hope in a Calvary-like environment. The ongoing conflict has taken a toll on the region, with the situation worsening day by day, and the future remaining uncertain.
The parish priest, Father Gabriel Romanelli, has expressed hope and compassion for all parties involved in the ongoing conflict. He is supported by the Catholic Church in his work, providing humanitarian aid to displaced people in the city.
The number of people fleeing the bombings is increasing, and Father Romanelli and his team are prioritizing assistance for the elderly, sick, families with small children, bedridden individuals, and children of Mother Teresa. The parish, located in the old part of the city, in the Zeitoun neighborhood, has not been directly affected by bombings at the moment.
Romanelli's mission is to continue praying for peace and justice for all parties involved in the conflict. Despite the suffering caused by the conflict, he remains grateful to God for these blessings in his life.
In recent days, Father Romanelli has performed a marriage between two young Christians and baptized a child named Marco, among the refugees. He has also blessed 65 people with the Scapular of the Most Holy Virgin as a sign of protection and blessing.
Images of his work have garnered international attention, with Romanelli sharing them on social media. The parish is currently helping 450 refugees in the church, and they are distributing food, water, and medical supplies to those in need.
However, the frequency of bombings is increasing daily, and there is no security anywhere in the city. A recent explosion interrupted a prayer service in the church, but the devotees remained collected. The attacks are now reported in the south of Gaza City, with the military operation primarily affecting the western and northwestern areas, and a little to the south.
Despite the challenges, Father Romanelli's unwavering spirit and compassion continue to inspire those around him, offering a glimmer of hope in these difficult times.
