Central Perk Coffee Makes a Permanent Return to Times Square

Get ready, New York City! The iconic Central Perk Coffee, a staple of the hit sitcom "Friends," is set to open its doors in Times Square this fall.

The new location, scheduled to open in late 2025, will be a permanent fixture, not just a temporary pop-up. It will be nestled on the northeast corner of Seventh Avenue and 47th Street, near an Olive Garden and just a block from the Disney Store.

The success of this new venture is attributed to the nostalgia associated with the sitcom "Friends" in today's fractured cultural landscape. Despite the sitcom ending over two decades ago, it remains popular in syndication and has a strong grip on popular culture.

The original Central Perk, as seen on the show, will be faithfully recreated. The menu, designed by Tom Colicchio, an executive producer of "Top Chef" and a James Beard Award winner, promises a unique dining experience. However, it's important to note that the available information does not link the "Top Chef" producers to Central Perk Coffee's menu development.

One of the most iconic features of the original Central Perk will be present in the new location - the orange couch where Ross, Rachel, Monica, Chandler, Joey, and Phoebe spent countless hours discussing their lives.

Central Perk Coffee has previously appeared in reality as pop-up locations in New York City. But this time, it's not just a fleeting visit. "The One in Boston" is another permanent location of Central Perk Coffee, hinting at the potential success of the Times Square location.

While the sitcom "Friends" is wildly unrealistic about life in New York, the charm and nostalgia it brings are undeniable. Whether you're a long-time fan or a newcomer, the opening of Central Perk Coffee in Times Square promises to be an exciting event for all.
