Fresno State set to commence football season opposition from Kansas in the Week 0 encounter.
Fresno State Bulldogs Set to Kick Off Season Against Kansas Jayhawks
The Fresno State Bulldogs are all set to begin their college football season, as they prepare to take on the Kansas Jayhawks in Week 0 on August 23, 2025. The Bulldogs will be led by newcomer E.J. Warner, who has been named the starting quarterback for the 2025 season.
E.J. Warner, a transfer from Rice University, impressed coaches with his leadership, experience, and quick grasp of the offensive system. In his previous stint at Rice, he started in 2024 and threw for 2,710 yards and 17 touchdowns. Prior to Rice, he spent two seasons at Temple, setting school records and accumulating over 8,800 career passing yards and 58 touchdowns.
Brayden Walton, a true freshman from Buchanan High School, will protect Warner's blind side. Walton has been with the team since January and has put himself in a position to be ready to play.
The Bulldogs' opponent, Kansas, will be led by a multi-year veteran quarterback, Jalon Daniels. However, Fresno State's unity and focus on executing blocks on the perimeter and winning the line of scrimmage, as emphasized by head coach Matt Entz, could give them an edge.
Entz has observed significant improvement in the team since January and has announced team captains: Jadon Pearson, Al-Zillion Hamilton, Jacob Spomer, and Camryn Bracha. Each week, Entz will also have a fifth floating captain based on production and impact on the team.
The Bulldogs have about 40 new faces on their roster, but their unity is already evident. Entz emphasizes that his team will play hard for each other and block out any distractions.
