Intensifying Tensions in Kashmir: India Reports Fresh Attacks - Pakistan Denies Accusations

Fresh claims of assaults by India; Pakistan denies alleged incriminations - Fresh assault reports emerged in India; Pakistani authorities denounce such charges

Let's face it, the beef between India and Pakistan doesn't seem to be cooling down any time soon. Late last night, India cried foul, accusing Pakistan of launching air attacks on regions under Indian control in Kashmir and a military base in Punjab state. However, Pakistan outright dismissed these allegations, and they remain unverified at the moment.

The Indian Ministry of Defense wasn't mincing words, stating that Pakistan initiated rocket and drone attacks on Kashmir and a military station in Punjab. According to them, these threats were quickly neutralized without any casualties.

But Pakistan isn't playing along, with their Ministry of Foreign Affairs categorically rejecting these baseless claims from the Indian media. Pakistan's Information Minister, Ataullah Tarar, added that there was no attack on any targets in the Indian part of Kashmir or beyond the international border.

So, what sparked this latest round of tensions? Well, it all went down after a terrorist attack on April 22 in Jammu and Kashmir, which claimed the lives of 26 people, mostly Indian tourists. India, naturally, points the finger at Pakistan for involvement, while Pakistan denies this and asks for an independent investigation. As a result, skirmishes and tensions between the two nuclear powers have intensified. On Wednesday night, India retaliated with attacks on several Pakistani targets.

If you've been following the news, you might've heard about the chaos that unfolded in Jammu and Kashmir last night. Indian media reported loud explosions, sirens wailing, and a drone striking the airport in Jammu, where an air force facility is located. The Indian air defense is apparently on high alert, ready to intercept any potential threats. According to reports, the border area of Jammu was plunged into darkness due to a complete power outage.

India wasn't holding back the previous night either, claiming to have attacked air defense systems at several locations in Pakistan. One of these systems was reportedly destroyed in Lahore. The military alleged that Pakistan was attempting to target military sites in northern and western India, including 15 cities, with drones and rockets. Pakistan, in turn, claimed to have shot down 25 Indian drones since the previous night.

There's growing concern internationally about the worsening crisis on the Indian subcontinent. Germany and the 26 EU member states have urged Pakistan and India to immediately de-escalate.

As it stands, the Pakistani military reported more than 30 deaths and 57 injuries due to Indian attacks. Additionally, one person was killed and five were injured, including four soldiers, by the debris from the downed Indian drones. The Indian government claimed that 16 civilians, including five children, were killed by Pakistani artillery fire at the border, with one soldier also losing their life.

Iran's Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi is currently in New Delhi, engaging in mediation talks after visiting Pakistan. He met with his Indian counterpart Subrahmanyam Jaishankar, and the two countries signed three memorandums of understanding. "Our region needs peace," Araghchi said, expressing Iran's desire to mediate in the conflict.

At a Glance: Recent Escalations in the Kashmir Conflict

Here's a quick rundown of the recent escalations in the Kashmir conflict:

  • April 22, 2025: Militants attacked Indian tourists in Kashmir, resulting in the deaths of 25 Indian nationals and one Nepalese national. India accused Pakistan of harboring the responsible group, while Pakistan denied any involvement.
  • April-May 2025: The relationship between India and Pakistan deteriorated further. India suspended cooperation measures, while Pakistan closed its airspace to Indian airlines and halted trade.
  • May 7, 2025: India launched Operation Sindoor, targeting alleged terrorist camps in Pakistan-administered Kashmir and Punjab using advanced missiles and munitions. Pakistan claimed to have shot down Indian Air Force planes in retaliation, although India denies any aircraft entered Pakistani airspace.

Despite the ongoing tension, the European Union hasn't shied away from expressing its concern over the deteriorating relations between India and Pakistan. The recent parliament resolution on the Commission communication on the European Union's role in the fight against terrorism emphasized the need for peaceful resolution in Kashmir and other war-and-conflicts such as this.

As the Kashmir conflict continues, it has infiltrated the general-news, crime-and-justice, and politics spheres, with incidents like car-accidents and drone strikes becoming commonplace. In the aftermath of the terrorist attack on April 22, both nations have been engaged in a cycle of air strikes and conflicting claims.

While the international community calls for de-escalation, the Kashmir conflict has proved to be an enduring battlefield, with each nation pointing the finger at the other for acts of aggression. The politics surrounding this region have become increasingly complex, adding another layer to the already delicate situation.
