Dennis Kaygin Joins FC Ingolstadt 04's Squad: A Fresh Talent in Upper Bavaria
Say hello to Dennis Kaygin, the latest addition to the FC Ingolstadt 04 squad! This 21-year-old midfield powerhouse hails from Austria, where he was previously tearing up pitches for Rapid Wien.
Kaygin, standing tall at 1.86m, started his footballing journey at the tender age of seven with Bundesliga club FSV Mainz 05. He graduated from the Mainz academy in style, clinching the A-Junioren championship with a whopping 22 goal involvements in just 19 games, often leading the team as captain. His impressive performances earned him recognition as a junior international, representing Germany's U18 and U19 teams.
After an impressive 11-year stint with Mainz, Kaygin moved to Rapid Wien in the summer of 2023. Over the course of his time there, he played 23 competitive matches, including two Europa League qualifiers and four Conference League encounters. He also represented the reserve team, scoring seven goals across 26 appearances. In search of more high-level playing experience, Kaygin was loaned to Dutch first division side Willem II Tilburg for the second half of the 2024/25 season, where he played 13 games.
Sporting Director Ivo Grlic described Kaygin as a "talented, ball-secure, and technically skilled player" who "has stood out at his previous stations with his goal threat and game intelligence." Grlic believes Kaygin's adaptable style is a perfect fit for Ingolstadt's footballing philosophy and will bring fresh tactical options to the table.
Excited about his new opportunity, Kaygin, who boasts Swedish and Turkish roots, has also been a part of the Turkish U20 national team since autumn 2024. He expressed his eagerness to jump into the upcoming challenges and is eagerly awaiting the start of the season.
Welcome to Ingolstadt, Dennis! We can't wait to see you light up the pitch!
