Paris Saint-Germain, the Qatar-owned club, has made headlines with two significant signings in the recent transfer window.

Firstly, Illia Zabarnyi, a 22-year-old defender from Ukraine, will be the first Ukrainian to play for the French giants. The deal, estimated to be worth around £57 million ($76.7 million, 66 million euros), marks a significant investment by PSG. Zabarnyi had an impressive 2024-2025 season with Bournemouth, where he helped the team finish ninth. In a surprising turn of events, Bournemouth's supporters voted Zabarnyi as their player of the season in the previous campaign.

The arrival of Zabarnyi could potentially jeopardize the place of Marquinhos in the Paris Saint-Germain starting lineup.

In another development, PSG has also announced the signing of Lucas Chevalier from Lille last Saturday. Chevalier, a highly-rated goalkeeper, is not a defender, contrary to some initial reports.

Meanwhile, the absence of Gianluigi Donnarumma, the Italian international 'keeper, in the squad for the European Super Cup final against Tottenham, has sparked transfer rumours linking him to Premier League clubs. Manchester United and Chelsea are reportedly interested in Donnarumma, with Manchester City emerging as the frontrunner if their current goalkeeper Ederson departs for Galatasaray. Donnarumma's future at PSG seems uncertain, with the signing of Chevalier adding to the speculation.

Despite the potential departure of Donnarumma, PSG will face Tottenham in the European Super Cup final, which will be played in Italy.

In other news, Bournemouth has seen a significant overhaul of their defensive lineup from last season. The club has sold Milos Kerkez to Liverpool and Dean Huijsen to Real Madrid. The absence of Donnarumma in the squad could ignite further interest from Premier League heavyweights.
