### State Visit of French President Emmanuel Macron: A Grand Affair in the UK

The United Kingdom is set to welcome French President Emmanuel Macron and his wife Brigitte for a three-day state visit, marking the first such visit by a French head of state since former President Nicolas Sarkozy visited Elizabeth II in 2008.

The visit, which begins on July 8th, will see the Macrons greeted by the Prince and Princess of Wales at RAF Northolt. King Charles III and Queen Camilla will host an Official Welcome Ceremony at Windsor, followed by a carriage procession to Windsor Castle. The royal couple, consisting of the Macrons and the heir apparent couple, will take a carriage ride through Windsor town west of London.

On the first day, the Macrons will also visit Westminster Abbey, where they will lay a wreath at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier and visit the Palace of Westminster. President Macron will address parliamentarians and peers from the Royal Gallery. In the evening, King Charles and Queen Camilla will host a State Banquet in honor of the Macrons at Windsor Castle.

The following day, President Macron will address parliamentarians in the Royal Gallery at the Palace of Westminster and meet with Opposition Leader Kemi Badenoch and Liberal Democrat Leader Sir Ed Davey at Lancaster House. He will also visit Imperial College London to view an AI and Emerging Technology Innovators Exhibition. The Macrons will join Prime Minister Sir Keir Starmer and Lady Starmer for lunch at Downing Street, followed by a banquet hosted by the Duke and Duchess of Gloucester at the Guildhall.

The final day of the visit will see a UK-France Summit at Downing Street, with bilateral talks involving UK and French delegations. The Macrons will depart the UK after the summit.

Princess Kate, along with Prince William, will play a central role in the ceremonial events, including greeting President Macron at RAF Northolt and participating in the carriage procession and State Banquet.

It is worth noting that King Charles will continue to receive outpatient treatment during the state visit, and the royal couple will take a carriage ride through Windsor on Tuesday. Charles will have several engagements in Scotland this week.

Princess Kate recently spoke about her cancer recovery process, describing it as a "rollercoaster ride." Similarly, Charles has made his cancer diagnosis public.

The Macrons will make stops in London's Westminster Abbey and at the British Parliament during the state visit. The visit serves as a blueprint for the planned visit of US President Donald Trump, which is scheduled to take place in September.
