French authorities apprehended two suspected accomplices of Mohamed Amra, who fled Morocco, and handed them over to French justice.

In a significant development, two men wanted in connection with the 2024 escape of French criminal Mohamed Amra have been extradited from Morocco. The two men, Alan Gomes (28) and Albinou Da Sylva (38), are now expected to face judicial proceedings in Paris.

Amra, a notorious figure in Marseille's organized crime scene, was involved in various offenses including robbery, extortion, and gang-related violence. He was suspected of having significant links to organized crime and was allegedly linked to a powerful syndicate called "The Blacks."

The escape of Amra, who was nicknamed "the Fly," resulted in the death of two prison guards and the injury of three others. The incident caused significant attention from French authorities and was condemned as a ruthless act leading to loss of life among prison staff.

Following his escape, Amra was arrested nine months later in Romania. Meanwhile, his suspected accomplices, Gomes and Da Sylva, were arrested in Morocco in February 2025. They were wanted on arrest warrants and were the subject of an Interpol red notice.

A total of 41 people have been charged in connection with Amra's escape, including rapper Koba LaD, who is suspected of having been informed of the escape plan. The extradition of Gomes and Da Sylva was announced by French Justice Minister Gerald Darmanin on August 13, 2025.

The swift international cooperation, especially the extradition from Morocco, was publicly thanked by the French Minister of Justice. The Minister also expressed gratitude to the Moroccan authorities for making the extradition operation possible quickly.

Gomes and Da Sylva, both originally from and living in Evreux, the hometown of Mohamed Amra, fled to Morocco after the escape. The announcement of their extradition confirmed a report by the Parisien. Both men are now in custody awaiting judicial proceedings in Paris.
