Vietnam and France Bolster Comprehensive Strategic Partnership

Hà Nội - With excitement, Prime Minister Phạm Minh Chính expressed Vietnam's commitment to its relationship with France, its premier global partner in the European Union, during a meeting with French Ambassador Olivier Brochet on May 13.

The Prime Minister was elated about the impressive growth in bilateral ties since the two nations elevated their relationship to a Comprehensive Strategic Partnership during Party General Secretary Tô Lâm's visit to France in October 2024.

Both leaders voiced their determination to boost strategic trust and widen cooperative ventures across an array of domains, including finance, trade, investment, culture, heritage, architecture, education, and skill development. In addition, they are exploring promising new areas such as cybersecurity, artificial intelligence, aerospace, green transition, nuclear energy, and human resource training.

Chính encouraged the signing of bilateral agreements focusing on health, science, technology, innovation, and digital transformation, aligning with the breadth and depth of their partnership. The ambassador echoed these sentiments, emphasizing that Vietnam is among France's crucial priority partners in the Asia-Pacific region and expressing France's resolve to further strengthen ties with both Vietnam and ASEAN.

Together, they pledged to maintain close interaction to deepen their Vietnam - France Comprehensive Strategic Partnership, proposing specific projects in areas such as security, defense, infrastructure, transportation, and urban railways. In addition, both countries will focus on collaborative initiatives to tackle multilateral issues in organizations like the United Nations, International Organisation of La Francophonie, and ASEAN-EU cooperation framework.

France, with its significant influence in the EU, was encouraged by PM Chính to keep working as a catalyst to promote Vietnam-EU relations. Both nations are dedicated to joint efforts in advancing multilateralism, upholding international law, and endorsing French proposals to address regional and global challenges, particularly concerning climate change, environmental preservation, aviation, and maritime security. - VNA/VNS

The collaboration also consists of environment-related projects, two major new initiatives in this field, and a focus on addressing global challenges such as climate change, environmental protection, and ensuring aviation and maritime security.
