Freezing weather grounds flights at Krasnodar International Airport
Krasnodar International Airport is facing delays due to freezing weather. Eight flights have been disrupted, with six inbound and two outbound services affected. The cold snap has brought temperatures as low as –7°C overnight.
The delays began as a sudden drop in temperature hit Krasnodar. Daytime highs reached only –5°C, while overnight lows fell to –7°C. These conditions have caused ground operations to slow down.
Six arriving flights from Moscow, Antalya, Surgut, Istanbul, Novosibirsk, and St. Petersburg have been held up. Two departures—one to Istanbul and another to Moscow—have also faced setbacks. No other Russian regions have reported similar flight issues, though icy roads and train delays have been noted in Moscow and Kamchatka in recent weeks.
The Federal Air Transport Agency (Rosaviatsiya) had previously imposed restrictions on flights at Krasnodar and Gelendzhik airports. Those limits were lifted on February 2, 2023, allowing normal operations to resume until this latest weather disruption.
The freezing conditions continue to impact travel in Krasnodar. Airport staff are working to minimise further delays, but passengers are advised to check their flight status before heading to the terminal. No safety concerns related to the icy weather have been reported for flights in other parts of Russia.
