Discover the Seelos Film Series: A Hidden Gem on Holy Cross Campus
The Francis Xavier Seelos Theatre, nestled in the basement of Kimball Dining Hall, is a hidden gem on the campus of Holy Cross. This impressive venue offers a unique opportunity for students to relax and enjoy a movie near me, with a variety of films screening every semester.
The Seelos Film Series, as it's known, showcases a large variety of movies, both new and old. From blockbuster hits like Oppenheimer and The Flash, to indie favourites and classic films, there's something for everyone. The series even includes a selection of horror movies for those seeking a thrill.
Movies are shown on Wednesdays at 3:30 pm and 8:00 pm, and on Fridays and Saturdays at 7:00 pm. Upcoming screenings include Master Gardener, Blackberry, and Persian Lessons. Best of all, the screenings are free and open to all students and the Worcester public.
The Seelos Theatre boasts a capacity of 360 and offers a bigger screen than a personal TV, phone, or laptop. Matthew Nickerson '24, a frequent visitor of the theatre, praises its size and comfort, "It's a great alternative to watching movies in a dorm room. The big screen and comfortable seating make for an enjoyable movie-going experience."
Julia Kane '27 agrees, "I think the Seelos Theatre is an underutilized part of Holy Cross. It's a great place to escape, relax, and enjoy a movie with friends."
While searching for information about a performance of The Little Mermaid at Seelos Theatre on November 15, no relevant results were found. However, the theatre has previously shown popular films such as Us.
Barbie, which was shown at Seelos Theatre this year, is currently twenty dollars to stream. By taking advantage of the free screenings, students can save money while enjoying a night at the movies.
So whether you're a movie buff or just looking for a fun way to unwind, the Seelos Film Series is a must-visit on Holy Cross Campus. Don't miss out on this hidden surprise – catch a movie at the Seelos Theatre today!
