Free performances of Twelfth Night by William Shakespeare will be restaged in parks this summer.
New York's beloved tradition, Shakespeare in the Park, returns for its 63rd season in August, featuring a production of William Shakespeare's "Twelfth Night." The play, directed by the Tony Award-nominated Saheem Ali, will take place at the Delacorte Theater in Central Park from August 7 to September 14, 2025.
Originating from the vision of the late Joseph Papp in 1962, Shakespeare in the Park aims to bring large-scale, free productions of Shakespeare's works to the public. Last year's season was not conventional, with the Delacorte Theater undergoing historical renovation and finding alternative locations. Thankfully, the Delacorte Theater will reopen this summer, ready to host another captivating series.
To attend the performances, free tickets can be acquired through various methods: in-person distribution points in Central Park and the five boroughs, the in-person lottery at The Public Theater, digital lottery through TodayTix, and the in-person standby line in Central Park.
The production will feature a notable cast, including Bill Camp, Khris Davis, Junior Nyong'o, Lupita Nyong'o, Daphne Rubin-Vega, Moses Sumney, Peter Dinklage, Jesse Tyler Ferguson, and Sandra Oh.
Ticketholders will overlook Central Park while enjoying the enthralling story of twins, Sebastian and Viola, separated after a shipwreck. The cast will bring the play's twists and turns to life, ensuring an unforgettable experience for all audiences.
Getting to the Delacorte Theater is convenient, with the closest Central Park entrances at 81st Street and Central Park West or 79th Street and Fifth Avenue. The theater can also be accessed by various subway lines (B, C, and 6) and bus lines (M2, M3, M4, M10, and M79). Upon arrival at the park, simply follow the pedestrian path to the Delacorte Theater. Parking inside the park is not available.
