In the picturesque Castelo Branco district, the small town of Penamacor recently hosted the Feira Terras do Lince, a four-day cultural extravaganza that culminated in the inauguration of a significant cultural milestone – the Teatro Clube de Penamacor.

The festival, which ran from July 31 to August 3, offered a diverse lineup of free concerts, attracting music enthusiasts from far and wide. The opening day featured the lively performances of Alcoolemia and P*ta da Loucura. On August 1, the internationally acclaimed Gipsy Kings (featuring Nicolas Reyes) took centre stage, accompanied by The Twist Connection, Bombatuke, DJ Dilcio, and Chaito & Palosanto.

The highlight of the festival, however, was on August 2, when the British band James performed a captivating concert at Terreiro de Santo António in the village centre. The evening began with Audio 80 at Praça Nova do Ex-Quartel, followed by the Funk Boys at 1:00 am, and DJ Sayless closing the night around 3:00 am.

The festival concluded on August 3 with the performance by Tradição d’Ouro.

The Teatro Clube de Penamacor, a rehabilitated building that originally opened to the public in 1912, was inaugurated during the fair, though the exact date was not specified in the sources. The project, which initially cost around two million euros, received funding through the Penamacor Urban Regeneration Plan and the Urban Rehabilitation and Revitalization Financial Instrument, totalling approximately 3.1 million euros.

The president of the Penamacor Chamber of Commerce anticipates that the Teatro Clube de Penamacor will be fully active by the end of the second semester. The theatre, which functioned as a theatre until 1940, a cinema until 1969, and a venue for shows later, is poised to become a vibrant cultural hub for the community.

Daytime events at the festival included the inauguration of the fair itself, visits to exhibitors, and degustations, all starting at 5:00 PM on July 31. The Feira Terras do Lince was not just a musical celebration, but a vibrant blend of music, street entertainment, and local gastronomic experiences.
