Get ready for a thrilling main event at Omega Sports Promotions' "Kumbati 19"! 寄著 2025, May 16 marks the long-awaited face-off between Filipino-Swede prospect, Alexander Fredriksson, and boxing veteran, Marjohn Yap. It's all happening at the IPI Compound, located in Tingub, Mandaue City.

Omega Boxing Gym head coach, Jinggoy Junco, is looking forward to this battle, "I'm amped up because Alexis (Fredriksson) brims with talent, and we aim to offer him a formidable challenge to help him transition into a stronger, improved version of himself. We view Alexis as the future face of Omega Boxing," Junco shared with Cebu.

Initially, Fredriksson and Yap were slated to square off on Feb. 8 of this year, under one of the undercard bouts for "Binukbukay sa Sugbo." But, the fight was scrapped due to intervention from the Games and Amusements Board (GAB), brought on by the stark difference in their professional records. Instead, Fredriksson battled Reymond Empic and scored a first-round stoppage.

A few months down the line, the GAB made a U-turn, giving the fight its green light.

Although Fredriksson has only undertaken two professional fights, he boasts an extensive background in amateur ranks, earning him the title as one of the finest young amateur pugs in Europe. On the other hand, Yap, at 36, has fought in 53 bouts and faced off against several elite names like Takuma Inoue, Angelo Leo, and Charlie Suarez.

In his last outing, Yap endured an eight-round stoppage loss to undefeated prospect Jerald Into, who's currently striving in the Riyadh Season World Boxing Council (WBC) Grand Prix.

Fredriksson currently holds a 2-0 record, with both wins coming via knockouts, while Yap stands at 34-19, with 17 knockouts under his belt.

And remember, Fredriksson vs. Yap isn't the only exciting match on the "Kumbati 19" undercard. Arlando Senoc (4-0, 3 KOs) squares off against fellow heavy-hitter Eldin Guinahon (9-4, 8 KOs), John Paul Panuayan, a former Philippine National Team member, makes his pro debut against Mario Bersano, another newcomer, Mark Gil Gandi (1-0, 1 KO) steps into the ring with Kasty Flores (3-3, 2 KOs), Jubert Cahimat (1-0) squares up against Aldren Aton (1-2-1), and Crixian Arriola faces fellow debutant Francis Arante to kick off the night's action.
