Fred Wright sets sights on Q36.5 Pro Cycling, aiming for victories after six years with Bahrain Victorious, as he embarks on a fresh chapter.

Fred Wright, a British classics specialist, has announced his move to Q36.5 Pro Cycling Team for the 2026 season. After six years with Bahrain Victorious, Wright will bring his experience and skills to a new team, aiming to drive their ambitions in the Classics.

Wright's past performances are impressive, with top 10 finishes in major cobbled classics such as Paris-Roubaix and the Tour of Flanders. He also won the British National Championships in 2023, marking his only elite victory so far.

In 2022, Wright had a breakout year, finishing seventh at Flanders and being a constant attacking threat at the Tour de France. He even secured a second-place finish on stage two of the Critérium du Dauphiné this year. His consistent performance at the Vuelta a España was reminiscent of his Tour de France performance in 2022.

Wright's future objectives with Q36.5 include contributing strongly to the team’s Classics squad, leveraging his strengths in tough one-day races and cobbled events. The move represents a fresh start in a new environment where he is familiar with teammates like Tom Pidcock and Mark Donovan, helping build a cohesive group for the future.

Doug Ryder, Q36.5's general manager, believes that Wright can win again, citing his versatility and attacking style. Wright himself is looking forward to discovering new races in his new team and expressed his desire to help build the team and contribute to its growth.

Wright's impact on Q36.5’s Classics squad is expected to be substantial. His proven ability in the cobbled terrain and experience in high-profile races will enhance the team’s competitiveness in the spring Classics. Given that Q36.5 is a ProTeam aiming to improve its firepower, Wright’s addition is strategic to boost results in these prestigious one-day events.

It's worth noting that Wright will not be the only British rider joining Q36.5. Lewis Askey, another promising talent, will also be moving to the team from Israel-Premier Tech for 2026. Wright and Askey share a good rapport with the leaders of Q36.5 Pro Cycling Team, Tom Pidcock and Mark Donovan, which should help foster a cohesive team dynamic.

Wright did not discredit Bahrain Victorious, stating that it was time for a new environment after six years. He is optimistic about his future with Q36.5, believing that a new environment with fresh focus, new ideas, and new people will help him achieve his goal of winning again.

With Wright's addition, Q36.5 Pro Cycling Team is poised to make a strong impact in the Classics, building on Wright's strong past performances and aiming to grow further in a familiar yet renewed team setting.
