"Fred Wright is making a move to Q36.5 Pro Cycling, switching from Bahrain Victorious, aiming to collect victories in his new six-year environment"
Fred Wright is set for a new challenge, as he announced his move to Q36.5 Pro Cycling for the 2026 season. The British cyclist, known for his breakout year in 2022, will join the Future Classics squad alongside compatriot Tom Pidcock.
Wright's impressive performances in 2022 included a seventh-place finish at Flanders and constant attacking threats at the Tour de France. Despite coming close to major wins at the Tour de France and the Vuelta a Espana, Wright has yet to secure a victory.
The move to Q36.5 Pro Cycling marks a new environment for Wright, who spent six years at Bahrain Victorious, turning professional with them in 2020. Doug Ryder, the team's general manager, expressed confidence that the team can offer Wright the "final step" to succeed in winning major races, capitalizing on his near misses at Grand Tour stages and strong Classics performances.
Q36.5 Pro Cycling views Wright as an intelligent, versatile rider with a strong engine and attacking style. The team is building a future-focused Classics team, and Wright's addition fits well with their ambitions.
Wright finished second on stage two of the Critérium du Dauphiné this year and was second in the points classification at the 2022 Vuelta a Espana. He also has top 10 finishes in prestigious races like Milano-Sanremo, Paris-Roubaix, and the Tour of Flanders.
Wright won the British National Championships in 2023, his only elite win to date. He is looking forward to discovering new races with Q36.5 Pro Cycling and believes a new environment will help him achieve his goal of winning again.
Lewis Askey will also move to Israel-Premier Tech from Groupama-FDJ for 2026, alongside Fred Wright. Wright has known Tom Pidcock and Mark Donovan for a while, and the trio is expected to strengthen Q36.5's Classics squad.
Wright is excited about the prospect of joining Q36.5 Pro Cycling, a team he believes is on a great trajectory. He is here to help build the team and contribute to their success in the Classics. Doug Ryder shares this optimism, believing that Wright can win again with their team.
With Wright's addition, Q36.5 Pro Cycling is positioning itself for a strong showing in the Classics, hoping to help Wright achieve his first major non-national victory.
