Crafty scammers in Upper Bavaria have raked in six-digit figures in stolen jewelry and cash through the "shock call" scam, as disclosed by the police last Thursday. A woman from Penzing, Landsberg am Lech district, was victims of this scam on Wednesday afternoon. A stranger posing as her son contacted her, claiming a serious traffic mishap resulted in his arrest. A supposed police officer took over the conversation, promising to ward off a potential jail sentence if the 66-year-old woman paid bail.
Subsequently, the victim revealed approximately 100,000 euros worth of cash, jewels, and coins to an unidentified individual in Munich. The criminal investigation department is currently diving into the case details.
