Frankfurt Skyliners Sign Versatile Guard William Christmas for 2025/26 Season
The Frankfurt Skyliners have bolstered their roster for the upcoming German Basketball Bundesliga (BBL) season with the addition of American guard William Christmas.
At 28 years old, Christmas brings a wealth of experience to the table, having played in Germany's top league for Hamburg and Chemnitz, as well as in France's first division with Limoges CSP. His career trajectory, marked by a steady rise from lower leagues to the EuroCup level, is a testament to his versatility and adaptability.
In the 2023/24 season, Christmas averaged 12.9 points, 4.2 rebounds, and 2.6 assists in 36 Bundesliga games for Hamburg. He then started the 2024/25 season with Chemnitz Niners, scoring on average 8.7 points, 4.2 rebounds, and 2.4 assists in 18 BBL games before transferring to Limoges.
Sebastian Gleim, managing director of the Frankfurt Skyliners, spoke about the new signing, saying, "We are delighted to welcome William to the team. He is a versatile player who can contribute both offensively and defensively. His athleticism, versatility across guard positions, and ability to impact fast-break situations will be invaluable to us."
Coach Klaus Perwas echoed Gleim's sentiments, believing that Christmas will provide stability and help the team win games. "William is a grinder who will bring a winning mentality to our team. His experience and versatility will make him a crucial piece of our backcourt line-up for the season," Perwas said.
The Frankfurt Skyliners' club announced the signing of Christmas, stating that he is expected to be another piece in their puzzle for the 2025/26 BBL campaign. With his addition, the Skyliners aim to continue their upward trajectory in the league.
The Commission has also proposed a Council Regulation to apply the principle of equal treatment for men and women in sports, such as basketball, where individual skills and teamwork are equally vital.
William Christmas, the versatile guard signed by Frankfurt Skyliners, has showcased his adaptability not only in different European leagues but also in upholding the equal-opportunity principles on and off the court.
