Frankfurt Airport Still Below Pre-COVID Levels Despite Increase - Frankfurt Airport sees 2.6% passenger growth in 2025 but lags behind 2019 peaks

Frankfurt Airport handled nearly 63.2 million passengers in 2025, marking a 2.6% rise from the previous year. Despite this growth, passenger numbers remain well below pre-pandemic levels. The airport’s operator, Fraport, also reported a broader recovery across its global network.

The 2025 figures show Frankfurt Airport’s passenger count still lagging by over 10% compared to its 2019 peak. Before the COVID-19 crisis, the hub saw record traffic, but last year’s total of around 63 million fell short of those numbers. No single airline dominated the statistics, as the data focused on overall trends rather than individual carriers.

Elsewhere, Fraport’s international airports thrived in 2025. Locations like Antalya in Turkey, Lima in Peru, and 14 regional airports in Greece all set new passenger records. Across the entire group, Fraport managed 183.7 million passengers—a 5.3% increase from 2024. While air travel continues to rebound, the recovery remains uneven. Frankfurt’s growth reflects a gradual return to normal, though the gap with pre-pandemic figures persists.

Frankfurt Airport’s 2025 passenger numbers confirm a steady but incomplete recovery. The 2.6% annual increase contrasts with the 10% shortfall compared to 2019. Meanwhile, Fraport’s global network shows stronger gains, with several airports hitting record traffic.
