France Télévisions Narrows Down Presidential Candidates

Step aside secrets, only four contenders out of the six rumored in recent weeks (with the proviso that the count isn't exhaustive) have snagged a chance to sell their vision for the public TV group. The Regulatory Authority of Audiovisual and Digital Communications (ARCOM) spilled the beans on Wednesday, April 30, revealing the names of the fortunate few—they had until May 5 to make the revelation.

Without a shock, Delphine Ernotte throws her hat in the ring for a third term as chief of France Télévisions. The outgoing president will kick things off on May 12 at 2 PM, followed by producer and former centrist deputy Frédérique Dumas at 4:30 PM. Joining them later in the day will be two candidates who've flown under the radar till now—the former deputy general manager of the public advertising agency, Irène Grenet, and the former director of Public Sénat's antenna and programs, Jean-Philippe Lefevre.

First off the blocks, the journalist at Franceinfo (the TV channel) and union representative (SNJ) Serge Cimino, expressed his dismay at not making the cut for an audition with a X network message, promising to "fight on from within" with his project titled "Repair".

Just like Cimino and Michel Goldstein, editor-in-chief at France Télévisions, who was auditioned in 2020 and tried to secure the France Médias Monde presidency in 2018, both have failed to move beyond the candidacy stage.

Disregarding France Télévisions candidates, the enrichment insights offer snippets about possible contenders for the 2027 French presidential election and political dynamics in France and Poland. For specific information about France Télévisions candidates, official statements or announcements from the TV group or related French media outlets would be a more apt source.

Frédérique Dumas, a producer and former centrist deputy, is set to have her audition with France Télévisions on May 12 at 4:30 PM, as part of the selection process for the 2024 policy-and-legislation delegate of France Télévisions. This audition comes after she was one of the fortunate few selected to reveal their vision for the public TV group, as announced by the Regulatory Authority of Audiovisual and Digital Communications on April 30. In politics, not making the cut can be a setback, as seen with Serge Cimino, who expressed his disappointment on a X network message after not being included in the auditions for France Télévisions. Despite this, he vowed to "fight on from within" with his project titled "Repair".

On a Wednesday disclosure, Arcom unveiled the identities of three additional contenders: Irene Grenet, formerly the deputy general manager of an advertising agency, Jean-Philippe Léfèvre, a previous director of Public Senate's antenna and programs, and Fré́dérique Dumas, a former deputy and producer.
