France braces for a turbulent week of rain, snow and icy hazards
A week of fluctuating weather patterns is set to impact France, bringing heavy rain, snow, and icy conditions. The changes will commence with flash flood warnings on Monday, November 24, followed by a midweek cold snap and a return to wet weather by Friday. Some regions will experience blizzard-like conditions, while others remain dry and slightly milder than last week's freeze.
The week begins with heavy rain and flash flooding warnings in seven departments on Monday. Temperatures will rise higher than last week, reaching up to 15°C in Nice. By Tuesday, the rain will subside in most areas, but snow is expected in mountain ranges, with levels dropping as low as 500 metres.
The week's weather will present a mix of hazards, from flash floods early on to icy roads and possible blizzards by the weekend. While temperatures remain below average, they will not reach the extreme lows of the previous cold snap. Mountainous regions and southeastern areas face the highest risks from snow and freezing conditions.
