Foxes rejoice in their second Champions League triumph over Aalborg
The Berlin Foxes continued their winning streak in the UEFA Champions League, defeating Aalborg Handbold at the Max-Schmeling-Hall with a final score of 31:28.
The hosts started the match alert and more compact compared to previous games, setting the tone for an intense encounter. The score was balanced at 7:7 until the Berlin Foxes extended their lead to 17:12 before the break, thanks in part to Mathias Gidsel's eight goals and goalkeeper Dejan Milosavljev's several good saves.
The Berlin Foxes played better into their fast game after gaining possession, with the ball flowing more smoothly through their ranks. However, the absence of key players Nils Lichtlein, Leo Prantner, and Lukas Herburger due to injuries did affect the squad's depth and stamina towards the end of the match, allowing Aalborg to come back towards the end.
After the restart, the Berlin Foxes maintained their focus and increased their lead to seven goals with about twelve minutes left (28:21). Aalborg responded with much hardness, leading to several timeouts. Despite the pressure, the Berlin Foxes managed to save the lead in the end, securing their second win in Group A of the Champions League.
Tim Freihofer scored seven goals for the Berlin Foxes, while the match was attended by 6135 spectators. The victory marks a promising start for the Berlin Foxes in the Champions League season, as they look to build on their success and challenge for the title.
