Franconian Frenzy Eased: Jack Bloem Joins Duisburg Foxes 🏒

A potential transfer spat was averted as German-American ice hockey forward, Jack Bloem, signed with the Duisburg Foxes, effective July 1, 2025. The Alligators initially believed that Bloem still had a valid contract with his previous team, Höchstadt, but the German Ice Hockey Federation (DEB) has put the issue to rest.

The controversy erupted when the Alligators believed that Bloem's contract with Höchstadt was still in effect. However, the DEB, in agreement with the Foxes and the player, ruled that Bloem had appropriately terminated his contract and was no longer contractually bound to Höchstadt. "Jack knows how to find the back of the net," declared managing director, Tom Südler.

Höchstadt's refusal to grant Bloem his release triggered the clearance procedure, which ultimately determined that the Duisburg Foxes were within their rights to secure the services of the goal-scoring forward. With 25 goals and 15 assists in the previous season, the latest addition to the Black-Reds is set to ignite their offensive lines.

Coach Frank Petrozza, who had the chance to observe Bloem in action against Heilbronn, expressed his keen interest in the new signing. Bloem's existing synergy with one of the Foxes' three new Latvian players, Klavs Plancis, from their time together at Höchstadt, is anticipated to bolster the team's offensive threat.
