Fox News affiliate Fox Sports signs extensive partnership with Barstool Sports, Designating Dave Portnoy as recurring on-screen contributor
In a groundbreaking move, Fox Sports and Barstool Sports have announced a comprehensive partnership, set to revolutionise college sports coverage. The collaboration, officially unveiled in July 2025, will integrate Barstool's distinctive voice and audience into Fox Sports' multiplatform offering.
At the heart of the deal is Dave Portnoy, the founder of Barstool Sports, who will be joining Fox Sports' flagship college football pregame show, "Big Noon Kickoff", set to return in August 2025. Portnoy, known for his passionate and engaging commentary, will play an active role in on-air analysis, signalling a new era of sports broadcasting.
The partnership will also see the launch of a *two-hour daily morning studio show*, produced and delivered by Barstool Sports, airing Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 10 a.m. Eastern Time on Fox Sports 1 (FS1). This show is part of Fox’s strategy following recent cancellations of three daily shows and aims to bring Barstool's unique style to Fox’s programming lineup.
Besides football, Barstool will contribute to Fox Sports' college basketball coverage beginning later in the fall 2025 season. The "Barstool College Football Show" will also be filmed on location, deepening engaging coverage around major college sports events.
Eric Shanks, CEO and executive producer of Fox Sports, expressed his excitement about welcoming Dave Portnoy and Barstool Sports to Fox Sports. He highlighted that Barstool Sports brings a "one-of-a-kind brand" that resonates with a new generation of sports fans through authenticity, boldness, and originality. This partnership is aligned with Fox Sports’ evolving content strategy to diversify its sports media offerings and engage loyal Barstool audiences.
Other Barstool Sports talents will also be integrated into the programming, contributing to both the daily show and sports event coverage. While specific names beyond Portnoy have yet to be detailed, this collaboration promises a fresh and energetic approach to college sports coverage.
The partnership also includes Barstool Sports contributing to the College Basketball Crown, a postseason tournament launched by Fox Sports. The tournament, set to debut in April 2025, will air following its debut.
This collaboration marks a new era for Fox Sports, coupling its traditional sports media platform with Barstool’s unconventional and influential sports media presence. It provides opportunities for both parties to grow their reach and deepen engagement, promising an exciting future for college sports coverage.
