Fourth Installment of Subhadra Yojana's First Part Due on February 8, Over 18 Lakhs Females Set to Reap Benefits

The fourth installment of the Subhadra Yojana's first tranche will be distributed on Saturday, February 8, in Jajpur district, benefiting approximately 18 lakh eligible women. This was confirmed by Deputy Chief Minister Pravati Parida on Friday.

The Minister of Women and Child Development, Arun Kumar Sahoo, will oversee the distribution of funds. This distribution is part of the government's commitment to women's financial empowerment, with Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi set to disburse the funds.

The Subhadra Yojana, a flagship initiative aimed at enhancing women's financial independence across all 30 districts of Odisha, was launched by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on September 17, 2024. Originally, the BJP had pledged to provide Rs 50,000 to women in two equal installments. However, after coming to power, the party revised the disbursement plan, opting instead to distribute the amount in ten equal installments.

This decision was also made after securing victory and ending the 24-year rule of Naveen Patnaik. The Subhadra Yojana remains a cornerstone of Odisha's efforts to promote women's welfare and economic upliftment.

Eligible recipients are urged to complete necessary formalities, including NPCI verification and e-KYC (Electronic Know Your Customer) updates, by visiting their respective bank branches. Recipients who have faced delays in receiving their funds due to issues with the National Payments Corporation of India (NPCI) will be accommodated on March 8. Remaining beneficiaries will receive their pending first and second installments on the same day.

With this phase, the total number of beneficiaries under the scheme will surpass 98 lakh. The Subhadra Yojana was a key electoral promise made by the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) before the 2024 Odisha Legislative Assembly elections. The government expects the total number of beneficiaries under the Subhadra Yojana to surpass one crore after clearing pending applications.

The Subhadra Yojana is a significant initiative in Odisha's women's welfare and economic upliftment programs. It continues to play a crucial role in the financial independence of women across the state.
