Four suspects linked to a burglary ring were apprehended following a break-in and damage to Brad Pitt's residence in Los Angeles.
In a series of arrests made by the Los Angeles Police Department, four members of a burglary crew have been taken into custody for their involvement in the June burglary of Brad Pitt's Los Feliz home. The suspects, whose identities have not been fully disclosed, include Damari Zair Charles and January Arman Watson, both 18 years old.
The arrests were made in the 77th Division in South Los Angeles, following a string of burglaries across the city, some of which targeted celebrity homes. It appears that the suspects were not specifically targeting Pitt, but rather wealthy areas in Los Angeles, as part of a larger pattern of break-ins.
Other high-profile celebrities who have had their L.A. area homes targeted include Olivier Giroud, who lost approximately $500,000 worth of jewelry in a burglary at his L.A. home in February. A-list couple Tom Hanks and Rita Wilson had their Pacific Palisades guest home broken into last summer, and on Valentine's Day, burglars broke into Nicole Kidman and Keith Urban's L.A. home.
In May, a man was arrested after crashing a car into the front gate at Jennifer Aniston's home in Bel Air, and a reported attempted break-in was captured on surveillance video at the home of former "Real Housewives of Beverly Hills" star Teddi Mellencamp. AIR7 captured video of a large boarded-up window in the aftermath of the burglary at Brad Pitt's home.
It's unknown how much was taken from Pitt's home, but at the time, police said it was "ransacked." Interestingly, Pitt was not home when the burglary occurred. The suspects are also believed to be linked to other break-ins across Southern California, including burglaries at the homes of actor Anthony Anderson in Encino and Dodgers pitcher Yoshinobu Yamamoto in Hollywood Hills.
The case will be presented to the district attorney for charges. The arrests mark a significant step in the ongoing efforts to combat burglaries in Los Angeles, particularly those targeting celebrities and high-profile individuals.
