The 73rd San Sebastián Film Festival Prepares for a Spectacular Event
The San Sebastián Film Festival, one of the most prestigious film events in Europe, is gearing up for its 73rd edition from September 19th to 27th, 2025. This year, the festival will host four premiere galas, with our website serving as an official sponsor.
Among the premieres is "Parecido a un asesinato", a psychological thriller directed by Antonio Hernández. The film stars Blanca Suárez, Eduardo Noriega, Tamar Novas, Claudia Mora, Joaquín Climent, Marian Álvarez, and Raúl Prieto. The story revolves around a woman trying to rebuild her life after a dark past, with nothing being as it seems.
Another highly anticipated premiere is "La cena", a comedy directed by Manuel Gómez Pereira. The film stars Mario Casas, Alberto San Juan, Asier Etxeandia, Nora Hernández, Óscar Lasarte, Martín Paéz, Elvira Minguez, Carlos Serrano, Carmen Balagué, Eva Ugarte, and Antonio Resines. The plot revolves around a young lieutenant, a meticulous maître, and a group of expert Republican prisoners who must prepare a flawless banquet in record time for Franco.
"Ya no quedan junglas", directed by Luis Gabriel Beristáin, is another film to watch out for. The international cast, led by Ron Perlman, Megan Montaner, Hovik Keuchkerian, and Karra Elejalde, brings to life a story that combines thriller, action, and emotions, revolving around love, violence, and revenge.
The festival will also screen "La tregua", a war drama by Miguel Ángel Vivas Moreno. The film, based on real events set during World War II, stars Miguel Herrán and Aron Piper.
In addition to these premieres, our website's presence in San Sebastián includes six films in various sections of the festival. Two of these are in competition in the Official Section ('Maspalomas' and 'Histories of the Good Valley' / 'Good Valley Stories'), one is in Official Section Special Screenings out of competition ('Karmele'), one is in New Directors ('Aro berria'), another in Perlak ('Ciudad sin sueño' / 'Sleepless City'), and another in the Velódromo ('Rondallas' / 'Band Together').
The San Sebastián Film Festival collaborates with several sponsors who play specific roles in supporting the festival’s activities and enhancing its cultural presence. This year, our website has signed an agreement with the San Sebastián Festival, strengthening the cooperation between the two entities that has lasted almost two decades. During the festival, our website will present six participated films (two in the Official Section) and premiere the series "Zeru ahoak / Sky Mouths (Bocas de cielo)" from our website Play, co-produced with EITB.
