Four residents transported to hospital following fire incident in HDB apartment proximity to Holland Village
A Flat Fire Incident at Holland Village, Singapore
Last night at around 7:25 pm, a fire erupted in a 23rd-floor flat located at Block 5 Holland Close, Holland Village, Singapore. This information comes following the immediate response of the Singapore Civil Defense Force (SCDF) to the scene.
Upon arrival, the SCDF discovered that the blaze was predominantly contained in a bedroom within the Housing and Development Board (HDB) block. The fire was successfully extinguished using two water jets. Sadly, the rest of the unit suffered heat and smoke damage.
Before the SCDF's arrival, two residents had already evacuated the affected flat and were sent to the Singapore General Hospital for evaluation of smoke inhalation. Tragically, two firefighters endured heat exhaustion during the operation and were also transported to the hospital.
Approximately 100 residents from the block were evacuated to a nearby futsal court, where police officers carried out a thorough headcount to guarantee everyone's safety. Videos shared online have revealed flames affecting the flat below, as well as the air-conditioner condenser.
Defence Minister and Member of Parliament for Tanjong Pagar GRC, Chan Chun Sing, visited the site to render assistance to the affected residents. He encouraged everyone to seek support from the Buona Vista Community Centre for temporary shelter or additional help.
Currently, the cause of the fire is under investigation by the SCDF. There hasn't been a definitive announcement yet regarding the cause, but videos circulating online suggest that the blaze may have spread to lower areas.
Let's collectively hope for the quick recovery of the residents and firefighters who were taken to the hospital. Our thoughts are with them during this challenging time.
The local police force is closely monitoring the ongoing investigation into the cause of the flat fire incident in Holland Village, Singapore, which also involves accusations of potential spread to lower areas due to the circulating online videos.
