Spitz Cuba's New Leash on Life

In Kleve, North Rhine-Westphalia, a touching tale unfolds involving Spitz Cuba (4) and his loyal companion Zorro (3). These furry friends, belonging to David Hutschenreuter (30) and Lisa Meiner (26) from Lossatal near Leipzig, now bound through the garden in joyous joy, thanks to an extraordinary act of compassion.

Cuba, an adorable Spitz, had endured a harrowing few months. His chances of survival were teetering perilously close to none. The villain in this tale was blood poisoning, which had ravaged his body, eroding his paws to the point where the bones were exposed. The once-vibrant Spitz was in agony.

Lisa, heartbroken, shares, "The veterinary clinics in our area were at a loss. After many expensive infusions and antibiotics, they advised us to put Cuba to sleep. But Cuba was so brave. We felt he was fighting for his life."

In an act of desperation, Lisa sought solace online, uncovering a dog who had had his paws brutally injured in Ukraine. Ralf Seeger, a renowned animal rights activist from Kranenburg, had rescued the war dog and secured him prosthetic limbs from "Orthopets."

"We contacted Ralf Seeger. Despite his aid mission in Ukraine, he immediately responded and ensured Cuba could be treated at the AniCura veterinary clinic in Kleve," says David.

With a fighting spirit, Spitz Cuba was finally given a fresh chance at life. In a series of operations, the dead paws were amputated and, three months later, Maximilian Philippas from "Orthopets" crafted new prosthetics for him.

"Cuba received them in the post for his fourth birthday and began walking straight away. We are so grateful for the immense support. Seeing our dog so jubilant today is a source of endless joy!" Lisa says.
