The Serrano family, consisting of Domingos Serrano (55), Maria Serrano (51), and their 20-year-old twin sons, Domingos and Afonso, were traveling from Faro to Mourão for their vacation when the tragedy occurred. The family was driving a rented Nissan Juke, which was severely damaged and caught fire after the collision.
The other vehicle involved was driven by Ruben Goncalves, a Portuguese man who was traveling alone. The exact cause of the crash remains undisclosed, but local reports suggest that road conditions and speed may have played a role.
