Sunday Trading in Mecklenburg-Vorpommern - Four Mecklenburg cities launch special Sunday shopping before Christmas 2025

Four cities in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania will open their shops this Sunday for a special pre-Christmas shopping day. On December 1, 2025—the first watch of Advent—retailers in Schwerin, Rostock, Greifswald, and Neubrandenburg will welcome customers. The event forms part of a state-backed initiative to boost mobile trade.

The open shopping Sunday was announced for five cities initially. Wismar had planned to take part but later withdrew due to legal concerns over opening hours. The remaining four locations will proceed as scheduled.

The initiative aims to give retailers an extra boost before Christmas. Shoppers in Schwerin, Rostock, Greifswald, and Neubrandenburg will have the chance to browse stores on a Sunday for the first time this Advent. Organisers hope the event will set a positive tone for the rest of the holiday shopping period.
