"Four-day walking event in Marbella quickly nears"

The 14th edition of Marbella 4 Days Walking is set to take place from October 1, attracting participants from 17 different nationalities and boosting tourism in the region as summer crowds fade.

Organised by an as-yet unnamed entity, the event was originally conceived by Dutch expats and has grown to become one of the biggest autumn events on Marbella's calendar. A dedicated team of over 100 volunteers, along with security, medical, and rescue services, will ensure the event runs smoothly.

The opening ceremony will take place at Plaza del Mar, a vibrant location that will also host food trucks, live music, and dancing, adding to the party atmosphere. The Netherlands' ambassador to Spain will be in attendance.

Participants can choose from three distinct routes: a 10-kilometre green route, a 20-kilometre blue route, and a 30-kilometre lake route. For those seeking a challenge, two mountain circuits, including an ascent to Refugio de Juanar, are available for experienced hikers.

The event prides itself on its exceptional engagement of female participants, with a staggering 69% of participants being women. This year, organisers aim to increase participation to 5,000, a significant increase from the anticipated 3,000 participants.

Marbella 4 Days Walking welcomes participants from all over the world, with an increasing number of Spaniards joining the ranks. Countries represented include Germany, France, Japan, Colombia, and many more.

The date of the event has been carefully adjusted to avoid overlapping with the Pilar holiday, ensuring a larger turnout of international participants. With such a diverse and growing community, Marbella 4 Days Walking continues to be a celebration of outdoor activities and cultural diversity.
