Forwarding, Transport, and Logistics Sector in Duisburg and along the A3 Motorway: 38 Cases Requiring Additional Testing as Priority
The Duisburg Customs Office, in collaboration with state police officers, recently conducted targeted inspections on November 12, 2024, focusing on the freight forwarding, transport, and logistics industries. The inspections were part of the Financial Control of Illegal Employment (FKS) initiative, aimed at ensuring employers have the necessary work permits or residence permits for foreign employees.
The inspections took place in the city of Duisburg and on the A3 motorway, with approximately 60 employees of the Duisburg Customs Office and state police officers involved. The FKS checks for proper social security registration, verifies if social benefits are being fraudulently claimed, and focuses on minimum working conditions and whether exploitative working conditions exist.
During the inspections, irregularities were found in 38 cases. These irregularities included hourly wage discrepancies, social benefit claims, employment of foreigners, and notifications to social security. Four investigations were initiated on the spot: one criminal investigation for suspected illegal residence and three administrative offenses. The customs officers recorded the details of 115 people encountered that day.
The Duisburg Customs Office Press Office can be contacted at 0203 / 7134 - 348 or email [email protected] for further information about the FKS action between November 12, 2024, and today. The FKS conducts inspections as part of routine checks, risk assessments, and in response to tips.
The Duisburg Customs Office is located in Duisburg, Essen, Mülheim an der Ruhr, Oberhausen, Wesel District, and Kleve District. The office's website is www.zoll.de. The name of the head or spokesperson of the press office, who has been available for further information, is not publicly disclosed.
The FKS inspections are often targeted in sectors prone to undeclared work. The inspections will continue, with necessary investigations, such as reviewing business records, being carried out in the 38 cases where irregularities were found.
