Forty-three non-Kazakh individuals recognized and forced to leave Kazakhstan
Hitting the Streets: Almaty's Crackdown on Migration Law Violators
In a fresh round of enforcement, a whopping 751 individuals have been nabbed for flouting migration laws, as announced by Almaty city's migration service. This operation, set in motion on June 7, has been markedly successful, with 43 foreigners being deported from the city.
The ongoing operation, titled "Migrant", is Almaty's attempt to preserve public order while identifying and addressing rule breaches by foreigners in the Republic of Kazakhstan. Askar Butechninov, the head of Almaty city's migration service, provided the following update:
"Over a four-day period, we've held 751 individuals responsible for migration law infractions. Among these are 459 foreign citizens, 43 of whom have been expelled from the country following a court decision. Furthermore, we've taken 262 individuals under responsibility for facilitating foreigners' stay in Kazakhstan, and 30 employers have faced fines for violating foreign labor hiring rules. Additionally, 12 wanted criminals were detained during our operation," said Butechninov.
The operation, expected to conclude on June 16, remains in progress. While specific details about this event named "Migrant" aren’t readily available, it's worth noting that migration is a significant issue in Kazakhstan:
- Migrant Workers and Working Conditions: Kazakhstan sees an influx of migrant workers from neighboring countries, often subjected to adverse working conditions and without adequate legal protection against exploitation.
- Migrant Trends: There's a growing trend of Central Asian migrants moving to EU countries, which may impact Kazakhstan's approach towards its own migration policies and enforcement.
