Allofs admits mistakes: "Something went wrong here" - Fortuna Düsseldorf fans rally as club admits mistakes in 2. Bundesliga slump

Over 700 members of Fortuna Düsseldorf's fan club gathered for a general meeting, displaying a banner that read: 'We are Fortuna—we can do anything. Show strength, even in tough times.' This display of unity comes amidst the club's struggles in the 2. Bundesliga, where they currently sit in 15th place. Klaus Allofs, a board member, recently admitted mistakes and promised a turnaround.

The club's mid-season coaching change from Daniel Thioune to Markus Anfang in October 2025 did not yield the desired results. Under the new management, Fortuna Düsseldorf went through a five-match winless streak, slipping further down the table. Klaus Allofs, acknowledging the club's slide, stated that 'something went wrong' and they fell short in every area.

Despite the projected surplus of €2.1 million for the 2024/25 fiscal year, the club has faced challenges. Allofs expressed confidence in the club's ability to recover and promised improvements in the upcoming matches. The club plans to strengthen the squad in the winter transfer window, provided finances allow. Allofs also admitted that some past decisions would not be made again, indicating a willingness to learn from mistakes.

Fortuna Düsseldorf president Alexander Jobst has taken a critical look at the club's struggles, acknowledging mistakes and poor reactions. With over 700 members showing support at the general meeting, the club's fans remain hopeful. The club aims to turn things around in the next matches and strengthen the squad in the winter transfer window, with the ultimate goal of climbing up the 2. Bundesliga table.
