Tomsk,April 30 - RIA Tomsk. Ex-deputy governor of Tomsk region Alexandr Lebedev is embroiled in a criminal case for alleged abuse of power; he is currently detained, confirmed a spokesperson for Sverdlovsk regional court.

Previously, it was reported that from February to July 2024, the roads and transportation in Tomsk region were managed by Alexandr Lebedev, appointed by Governor Vladimir Mazur.

"Today, an appeal version regarding the decision of Leninsky district court of Yekaterinburg in relation to Lebedev regarding the selection of measures of restraint in the form of detention was considered. The appeal was left without changes, and consequently, Lebedev will remain detained until May 20, 2025," said the spokesperson of Sverdlovsk regional court.

She noted that the former deputy governor of Tomsk region Lebedev has been in custody since April 6. He faces charges under a criminal case that is being processed in Sverdlovsk region.

The representative also clarified that the criminal case is related to Lebedev's employment at FKU "Upravlenie federalnykh avtodorog "Jugy Ural."

According to the press service of Sverdlovsk regional court, Lebedev is accused of committing a crime specified in Part 6 of Article 285 of the RF Criminal Code - Abuse of office with severe consequences. The maximum sentence is 10 years' imprisonment.

Lebedev was born in 1978 in Magadan Oblast. He received his higher education at the Leningrad Institute of Sea and River Transport (currently St. Petersburg State University of Economics and Finance).

In the future, he held executive positions in transportation sector enterprises. In particular, from 2017 to 2019, he headed the Federal Road Management Unit "Jugy Ural" in Chelyabinsk. In 2021-2023, he was CEO of the group of companies "Severavtoadorg," registered in Surgut. In May 2023, he was appointed director of the transport and road service department of Yugra.
